Living Wills

End-of-life decisions can be extremely difficult for a family in grief. Having a living will takes some of the pressure off your loved ones by telling your doctors and/or health proxy what decisions you want made.

• Do you want to be kept alive on life support?

• Do you want to live as long as possible, no matter what your medical condition is?

• Or, if recovery is not likely, do you want to be kept comfortable by procedures that will not prolong your life?

• Would you want to prohibit life-sustining procedures under those circumstances?

• Does your religion dictate end-of-life issues?

Many people find it difficult to think about the decisions they must make before writing a living will. However, communicating your desires on paper may save your family from later conflict and suffering.
